Are We the Rapture Generation?

Is God working in 50, 70, and 100 year milestones?

Balfour Declaration in 1917

A letter from the United Kingdom's Foreign Secretary Arthur James Balfour to Walter Rothschild, 2nd Baron Rothschild, a leader of the British Jewish community, for the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people.

(100 years from that date would be 2017.)  (50 years from that date was 1967 when Israel took control of Jerusalem in the 6-Day War.)  (50 years from that date would be 2017.)  A year of jubilee every 50 years?

Israel became a nation again in 1948.  (70 years from that would be 2018.)  So, does God work in 50, 70, and 100 year periods?  We may not know the day or the hour, but could we know the year?

God held Israel responsible for not knowing the exact date Jesus would ride into Jerusalem on a donkey.

See Leviticus 25:1-4; and 2 Chronicles 36:14-21.

Daniel was one of the young men whose lives were spared.  He became a chief advisor to the king.  After 69 years of their captivity, Daniel was reading the writings of Jeremiah the prophet, and he wrote this:

Daniel 9:1-2, 24 says:

1 “In the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus, of the seed of the Medes, which was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans;

2 In the first year of his reign I Daniel understood by books the number of the years, whereof the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem.”

24 “Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.”

Every seventh year was supposed to be a sabbatical year, and they were supposed to let the land rest that year.  For 490 years the Jewish people did not keep these sabbatical years.  70 sabbatical years were not kept.

Daniel also knew of God’s promise to Jeremiah.

Jeremiah 29:10 says:

“For thus saith the LORD, That after seventy years be accomplished at Babylon I will visit you, and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place.”

Daniel knew they only had one more year of captivity, that is, a “week” of years, or a 7-year period.  In Nehemiah 2:1-10, Nehemiah goes before Artaxerxes the king, and asks for permission to go back and rebuild Jerusalem.  God now gives Israel 490 more years, after the Babylonian captivity.

Daniel 9:25-26 says:

25 “Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.

26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.”

Jerusalem would be destroyed again in AD 70.  Do you know why Jerusalem was destroyed in 70 AD?

Luke 19:41-44 says:

41 “And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it,

42 Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.

43 For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side,

44 And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.”

Daniel told them when their time of visitation would be.  360 day years by 483 years = 173,880 days - converted by solar year that would be April 10, 29 A.D.  That was the exact day Jesus rode into Jerusalem on the donkey and was proclaimed the Messiah.

Luke 19:28-38 says:

28 “And when he had thus spoken, he went before, ascending up to Jerusalem.

29 And it came to pass, when he was come nigh to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount called the mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples,

30 Saying, Go ye into the village over against you; in the which at your entering ye shall find a colt tied, whereon yet never man sat: loose him, and bring him hither.

31 And if any man ask you, Why do ye loose him? thus shall ye say unto him, Because the Lord hath need of him.

32 And they that were sent went their way, and found even as he had said unto them.

33 And as they were loosing the colt, the owners thereof said unto them, Why loose ye the colt?

34 And they said, The Lord hath need of him.

35 And they brought him to Jesus: and they cast their garments upon the colt, and they set Jesus thereon.

36 And as he went, they spread their clothes in the way.

 37 And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen;

38 Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.”

Psalm 118:26 says:

“Blessed be he that cometh in the name of the LORD: we have blessed you out of the house of the LORD.”

This was known as the official declaration to be sung when the Messiah had come.  People before this tried to proclaim Him King but He would not let them.  The time had not come.  Now it was exactly 483 years since permission was given to restore Jerusalem.  Christ held them responsible for knowing the scriptures.  They didn’t take Daniel seriously when he told them the exact time Messiah would come into Jerusalem.

Zechariah 9:9 says:

“Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.”

The phrase rapture (Greek-harpazo, in Latin-rapere) means to be caught up or taken away suddenly.  The rapture refers to the sudden removal of God's people from the earth.

Revelation 4:1 says:

“After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.”

John 14:1-3 says:

1 “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”

Acts 1:9-11 says:

9 “And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.

10 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;

11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.”

1 Thessalonians 4:13-17 says:

13 “But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.

14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”

1 Corinthians 15:50-53 says:

50 “Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,

52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.”

Sequence of Events:

  • The Lord descends from Heaven with a shout
  • The Trumpet of God sounds
  • Dead in Christ rise into the air
  • Our mortal bodies are changed into immortal
  • Living Christians rise into the air
  • We are with the Lord forever

7 Differences Between the Rapture and the Second Coming:

Rapture                                                           Second Coming

1.  Comes for His own                                  Comes with His own

2.  Church taken to Heaven                         Sets up Kingdom on Earth

3.  Could happen any moment                    Can’t occur for at least 7 years

4.  Before the “day of wrath”                       Immediately after the tribulation

5.  No mention of Satan                               Satan bound for 1,000 years

6.  Precedes Marriage of the Lamb             His bride descends with Him

7.  Only His own see Him                             Every eye shall see Him

Why we believe in a Pre-Tribulation Rapture:

The Promise Delivery of the Wrath to Come!

1 Thessalonians 5:4 says:

“But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.”

1 Thessalonians 5:9-10 says:

9 “For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.”

Romans 5:9 says:

“Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.”

Colossians 3:6 says:

“For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:”

1 Thessalonians 1:10 says:

“And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.”

Revelation 3:10 says:

“Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.”

In 2 Thessalonians 2:1-9, someone had come to the church of Thessalonica with a forged letter telling them that the Tribulation Period had already started.

2 Thessalonians 2:1-5 says:

1 “Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,

2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.  (The temple will not be rebuilt until after the Rapture of the Church.)

5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?”

“Falling away” in verse 3 is the Greek word “apostasia,” from which we get our word “apostasy.”

2 Thessalonians 2:6-9 says:

6 “And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.  (The phrase “what withholdeth” is translated from the word “katecho” and has the sense of ‘restraining’ or ‘holding back.’)

7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.  (The word translated as letteth is again katecho.  It simply means to “restrain,” “hinder,” “hold back,” or “make late.”)

8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,”

The “catching away,” and the removal of the Holy Spirits’ influence will be taken out of the way, before the Antichrist is revealed for who he is.
